H1B Amendment- is stamping required?

I am working on H1B visa for last one year. I have the current visa stamped on my passport.

I am a direct employee.

My employer plans to give me promotion. My job location will be same but some added responsibilities. So he plans to file for H1B amendment.

My current visa stamp is valid until 2014. My question is, after filing of H1B amendment and its approval, do I have to get a new visa stamp when I leave US for a trip?
