Usually PIMS will take anywhere between 2-4 weeks. It used to be only 10 days before and recently it is taking longer than expected. It is advisable you do not book your tickets until get the visa approved.

Hi, based on my personal experience I would suggest you to book your tickets only after the visa stamping is successful.
I am stuck in India now for more than 4.5 months and had to reschedule my tickets 2 times by paying fees everytime.
Finally I cancelled my ticket and decided to book only when I will have my passport in my hand with approved visa.
