Ex-employer asking for travell expsnese of my wife.

Dear All,

I was working with HCL Tech Ltd. India (Jan 2012 to Feb 2012). In Feb 2012 I was transferred to HCL America Inc on H1B visa in California (with my wife on H4). I left HCL America Inc in June 2012 and currently working for a Local giant software company.

Now HCL Tech Ltd, India is asking me to pay my wife's travel expenses (From India to USA) + my joining relocation expense of India (Which i used when I joined in Jan 2012). I have signed a contact with HCL Tech Ltd, India saying that if I will leave HCL within 18 months that I need to pay back my wife's travel expenses.


Am I really, legally required to pay back such expense to HCL Tech Ltd, India now?

you signed a contract. contracts are legally binding. so yes, you need to pay.
