My father is a new U.S. permanent resident (green card holder). We applied to have him be able to immigrate from Australia to the U.S. because he is getting older in age and we want him closer to us so we can take care of him as he ages. He is 89 this year. Obviously, he doesn't have the 40 quarters of work needed to qualify for Medicare. He is my dependent so based on the income for our household size, he wouldn't qualify for Medicaid. So, I am wondering is there a way that I can purchase health insurance for him via the ACA and how much could it be given that ACA does not look at preexisting conditions (does that mean age)?
