B2 to H1b

Hi,If i get a residency in US can i get my visitor visa converted to H1b?do i need to come back to India to get H1b stamped or it can be done in Us only??

It is possible both ways. The difference is; if you change status in US,
you do not get a visa stamp in your passport , you only get a new I-94 with
an H-1 stamp. And if you need to travel to India during your residency period, which you surely will, you will have to deposit that I94 with H-1 stamp at US departure airport and get an H-1 stamp at the US embassy/consulate in India to be able to return to US.
