My wife and I are traveling to US for a 3-week vacation. While I speak English fluently, she does not, since she rarely uses the language. She can understand most things, but I am concerned about her ability to answer the CBP officer's questions.
We are travelling together so all answers are valid for both of us (where and how long we are staying, what's the purpose of our visit, etc.). Can we approach the officer together at POE and show him/her our documents and answer the questions, or do they require one person at a time to approach? Or do I have to stay behind and only if she's unable to answer the questions, then I am allowed to translate? We do not want to do anything that would alarm the officers, including approaching them in pair if that's not OK.
