hi I came to US 5 years ago
my mom worked at some company for 3 years to get us a greencard
all of my family received a card except me
they lost my card somehow so I had to apply again(I90) to get a new one
i don't know what happened but it took really long and i still don't have it..
this year they sent me a finger print notification(2nd time) on january of this year but i was not able to show up and i could not even appear before the dead line date... which was 4/21/05
it saids that my application will be considered abandoned if i cannot show up until 4/21
what should I do now? should I re apply again??
because
what i really want is to go to U.S Airforce
when I went to INS they said that I could go into military with just the stamp on my passport which saids "Processed for I-551 Temproary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence valid until Feb 25, 2006. Employment autorized" and NOR stamp(No other restriction)
but when I went to the MEPS(Military Entrance Processing Station)
they weren't so sure about it so they sent the copy of my stamped passport to some part of military for approval ..next day I got a call from my recruiter that I needed a receipt for applying greencard and everything will be processed which I don't have anymore...
can I get a proof or another receipt at INS??
or INS lady said that I can apply for citizenship.. so how long does it take to get a citizenship?
And, i have alien registration number on my greencard along with the stamp
can that number be a proof of my greencard? is that number given out only when actual green card is issued?
it seemed like my recruiter and those people down at MEPS didn't know how to handle these kind of situations...
i really don't want to waste my time and join the airforce as soon as possible
please post if you know anything or have suggestions
thank you
