Hello,
I am a student on an F1 visa and have a valid driving license here(Texas). My husband is moving from India to Houston soon on an L1 visa.
Does he need an SSN and proofs of residence in order to get a driving permit here?
Normally he'd have to wait to get his SSN, his name on a lease and utility bills (to provide proof of address). On the other hand, if he had come on a dependent visa, he would not need any of these documents (verified by a friend who was in this situation). So our case is somewhere 'in between'.
Would appreciate advice on this.
Thank you.
