Company in NC, GC in MA

Hi everyone,
I work in MA currently and want to establish residency for in-state tuition purposes and file taxes. But my NC-based company is against the idea and wants to file my taxes in NC so that there are no problems when I file for my green card.

Is this a known issue, can I ask my company to file for my green card in MA ?
