Passport Renewal - Do not wish to add Spouse's Name

Hi,

My passport (Indian) is up for renewal at the San Francisco consulate. I have been married for a while but separated for now.

There is no way I'll be getting a notarized copy of my wife's passport nor I am keen on adding her name to the passport. However, the passport application does not have an option "Separated".

Can I choose "Single" as marital status and just get over it? I tried searching a bit but did not find anything much useful.

Bump once, just to check if anyone has some knowledge on this. I do not mind adding my wife's name to the passport if it's easy way out, but the problem is that I cannot get notarized copy of her passport.

i am not sure about that i think you can put divorcee? if you are just separated but not divorced then i can't answer your question.and attach divorce proof.
