re establish residency after two years out of the USA. Green card still valid

I lived in the USA for 17 years on a green card. I was divorced two years ago and left the USA to return to England. Is it possible to go back and pick up residing as a resident alien on my green card . What would I need to do if it is ?

Sounds like you abandoned residence in the US during those two years in England. If you have the physical GC, you could try to return and present yourself at the US border. The CBP then makes a decision whether or not to admit you. If so, then you're good to go. If not, then you may be out of luck and may need to be re-sponsored for a GC if you wish to make the US home again.

Btw, you didn't consider applying for US citizenship during those GC years?
