Is transit visa required for my case ?

Dear folks,

I am a Syrian nationality and willing to enter US in August on IR1 VISA. I am planning to do flight connection in Amsterdam Airport for a couples of hours. Then I will take my second flight to my final destination Detroit, MI.

My question is should I hold transit VISA to enter Amsterdam airport , even though I am not planning to leave the airport ?
