Hello all,
Please help. I got married a month ago. My wife is a green card holder / permanent resident and was born in Sri Lanka. I was born in India. Would I be subject to the Indian priority dates or would the fact that she (the petitioner) was born in Sri Lanka make the application fall in a different category?
I learnt the typical timeline before my priority date gets current (upon which I can file my I-485) is about 1 year 4 months to 1 year 8 months. I am concerned because my H1-B visa expires in Dec 2017. Any suggestions on how I could avoid going out of status at the end of my H1-B visa while I wait for my priority date to get current?
Thank you all in advance.
