Both my kids are US citizens by birth and currently all of us are in India. Can myself and my wife apply for work permit, immigration or GC so that we all can go back to US ?

One of your kids may be able to file an I-130 for your immigrant visa direct at
US consulate/embassy in India . Your child must ask the US embassy/consulate in your area if they will process an immediate relative petition, because not all embassies/consulates do this. If yes,
both of you could get your immigrant visas in a matter of couple of months
and all of you can go to US together.
If the embassy/consulate says no, your child will have to file the petition in US.
