I have been applying for green card via form I-485 and new EAD for almost 3 months.
I have had a OPT but my 90-day unemployment period of OPT have been expired and I could not find job during that time. I understand until I have my new EAD issued, I cannot work for any company.
I wonder during this time of waiting for new EAD or green card, could I work as a volunteer for any non-profit organization such as Red Cross? I just would like to outreach to my community and do something meaningful instead of just waiting and doing nothing.
