Hi,
We are here with family in Michigan on a L1/L2 visa and are faced with a strange problem.
My wife went to the SOS office for the driving written test and the authorities came up with the observation that her "First Name + Middle name" and the "Surname" were reversed in the passport and they require 3 identity proofs with same name which in her case turned out to be the "reverse". The proof of identity is taken from Passport(1), Visa(2). now the challenge for me is where do I get the "3rd" "wrong" photo identity.:-)
A few options I came across while discussing with friends were
1. Get an affidavit from India, parents attesting a document which says that she is their daughter and her name is so and so...(the wrong name!!)
2. Apply for a TIN no for my wife where they will use the same document (Passport and visa name for making this document too and that will result in the "wrong name")
3. Apply for a Social sec no. which will again refer to the passport/visa and end up with the same result
4. Go to another SOS office...
I wanted to know if someone had a similar problem and what is the sure shot way to get around this problem....
Any help much appreciated. I am not sure these rules change from state to state in US. At least the Michigan license expects these :-(
Thanks in advance
Francis
