I am a US citizen who is marrying my Japanese fiance and going through the immigration process. We will be filing all the required forms, but here is my dilemma: I don't know who can sign the I-864 for my fiance. I am a student, therefore I have no income or tax returns. Although my parents are US citizens, they live and work overseas, and my fiance's parents are not US citizens, obviously.
Financially, my fiance's parents will provide the funds so that my fiance can live comfortably until my he is permitted to work and becomes financially stable, but I guess this means nothing to the INS.
Is there any way around this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
