  • GA Driver License Renewal taking longer

I live in Atalanta GA and have Green Card since last 4-5 years. Recently, My drivers license was due for renewal. As per the new procedure, I went to the GA DDS and they told me that they will submit my request to USCIS (immigration services) for approval. After 20 days they still have not heard from USCIS. I cannot reach USCIS, since they keep on asking for receipt number that I do not have. Not sure what menu option to choose from.

Does any one had this issue and know how to solve/expediate this process?

Some friends speculate that this may be new issue after USCIS increased the fees and are overwhelmed with the number of applications. So it may be taking them longer to process anything now. Does someone know if this true?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you sho your green card to them. It looks like they think that you are on some kind of extension. You need to talk to a supervisor

Yes, I did show them my Green Card (and twice to two different person on different days). They showed me their screens and it said something like "send documents to INS and pending approval". I did argue, but they seemed really helpless and asked me to contact INS. (and no luck contacting INS yet)

        GA Driver License Renewal

I just renewed my DL, and got a new DL but for one year only - no explanation provided. Originaly I got the paperwork by mail - after I filed I got it back stating a change in law required ID and you had to go to a DMV office. I was already on my 2nd license.
(We live 5+ years in the US (family with 2 kids on college) - and have our GC's for more than a year).

The content on DMV website only states that a the validity will be limited if no expiration is shown. My GC however clearly states expiration date and is still far away . I don't know what they are doing. Called DMV and the referred to INS - and INS said it was not related to them. Next week I wil go back toanother DMV office and try to find out.
What iritates me most, is that we can now go there every year - waste 2 or more hours and pay 20$ p/y instead of 15$ once per 5 years and online.

Has anybody advise or the same experience?
