I'm forming a company with a man from Mexico who I met while working for a large employer. I didn't even think he was undocumented, as he's been here since 1989, works for a large employer, and has teenage children who were born here.
Now that I know he doesn't have a SSN, or any legal papers, is there anything I can do as an employer to get him some type of legal status? Our company is under my name as I was born and raised here, but even then I don't see how I can employ him without a SSN.
The only things going for him are:
Been here 18 years, paying taxes
Has 2 teenage children born here
Decent English speaking and writing
He has bank accounts, but no SSN so I don't know how that works...
Any guidance for how I can proceed would be appreciated. Since he is here illegally, I don't think I can request a work visa, does he qualify for any other options?
