Very urgent help ..... Stay limit outside USA

I entered USA with a immigrant visa in july 2007. I was supposed to receive greencard in 2 weeks..But i never got it. I was asked to apply for i-90 when enquired

Meanwhile i had to come to India. My immigrant visa expired in January 2007. How long can i can stay outside the USA......
Can i enter the US without the greencard in hand....

Please everyone help me as My 6 months will be finished this feb ending...

Immigrant visas are valid for 180 days for a single entry into the United States.

That means you can not re-enter the USA with that visa. Since it already has been used.

Was your passport stamped with the I-551? if so, you can use that, if not you will have to get someone to mail the Green Card to you or check with the consulate, because you made a big mistake by leaving without the GC. You can not re-use that visa.
