Hi
I have two immigration questions and if you can offer free advice to me, I will appreciate it a lot.
I tried to obtain the magistrate order but the Municipal authority is saying that they did not retain the magistrate order and have destroyed it. I tried to get a letter from them that the birth was not registered during birth but they are not giving it to me. I have a RFE to submit the birth certificate and have only 15-20 days left to respond. Should I just submit the birth certificate along with 2 affidavits without the letter and magistrate order or try harder to obtain it?
Thanks

- I read on your site that if a birth is registered more than 3 years after birth in India, a magistrate order should also be submitted along with the birth certificate. I am applying for my mother’s green card and I just registered her birth because it was never registered. I got the birth certificate and I read later on your site about this magistrate order and a letter to support that it was not registered during birth.

- My mom’s first name changed after marriage which is normal in our custom. Her marriage as far as we know is not registered. So, I obtained a letter from the Panchayat where her marriage took place that her name changed from “X” to “Y” due to marriage and that her marriage was not registered. Should I obtain a letter from the Municipal authority or is the Panchayat letter and 2 affidavits enough?
Thanks
