my husband has joined the military

i got married in September 2007. My husband is in the Reserves. During his last drill he found out that I can apply for Adjusment of status for free (I haven`t applied for any papers yet). I dont believe its possible, to be honest He said we can get militery lawyer who will do all paperwork and I don`t have to pay anything.
If anybody knows anything about it, please can you provide me with your information.
