Gift to parents in India

Dear All,

Can I give my parents a large sum of money in USD as gift in India? Do they need any supporting documents as a proof that this money was given as a gift. If yes, what is the supporting document? Can a letter from me be sufficient?
Also can the gift be given as cash gift? Is there any limit per year?

As you already paid taxes on your income in USA, there is no tax consequence if you give that money to relatives in India as gifts.

No separate documents are required.
