Legal Last name change

Hi,
I got married last year and would like to take my husband's last name. I am an Indian citizen and am currently on H1. Can anyone please tell me how do I got about this?

... marriage certificate get a new passport and then inform USCIS. I'm unaware of the form to fill in for USCIS, one of the esteemed members here should be able to help you out here.

You'll be able to use your stamped visa in the existing passport (which will be cancelled but returned to you)

Our attorney told to get the passport change done first and not worry about USCIS H1b petition until it is time to extend/renew/transfer the H1b.

At that time, provide a marriage certificate and all goes well with the new last name on the renewal.

If you have to travel or go for a visa stamping before that, an amendment might be needed.

Just to avoid the hassle, I decided to stick with my last name till I am done dealing with USCIS.
