Hi,
We got married in India this year and we both are on h-1. Is it necessary to register our marriage in US? (for joint tax returns etc) or can we both keep different last names and still show married status for tax returns or whenever necessary. If we register in US, is it going to affect our individual H-1 status? in future, if one of us looses job, is marriage registration helpful in changing status from H-1 to H-4 (spouse dependent)
