Hi,
I came to US in last August on company ABC H1 visa and I worked for them for a couple of months. Currently I am looking for an assignment and my payroll is not running for the past five months from the same company(ABC). Today I read some news about illegal immigrants changing their status from illegal to legal by paying some $1000.00. I would like to know whether I am a legal immigrant or illegal immigrant? The reason that I have this question is as my payroll is not running for the past five months. If so,(if I am an illegal imigrant because of this reason) can I apply for converting my status from illegal to legal through this new law(I came to know that there is another 4 month extension from April 30th,2001)?
