  • How to sponsor a housekeeper w/ an existing visa

Hello--I have friends who work for the World Bank and have a housekeeper living with them here on a G-5 visa. Our friends are about to leave the country and the housekeeper has asked if she could live/work with us. To do this, I would have to assume sponsorship of her visa. She has been in the country for over 12 years working for families who have sponsored her.

How do I, a normal American citizen, sponsor a visa from a S. American country?
If she has a G-5 visa--can she keep it or does she have to apply to change the status?
How much does it cost to sponsor the visa?
How do I care for this housekeeper--medical insurance, etc?

    Thank you for any advice.

You will not be able to sponsor. G visa holders have special provisions to do so. You as a citizen, will not be able to do that AFAIK.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
