  • Short term disability

Can anyone please explain me what does the following statement mean

“Specifically, replacement of up to 66-2/3% of your weekly earnings (subject to a maximum weekly benefit of $1000) less any benefit received from state-sponsored short-term disability programs.”

This is reagrding the Short term disability leave.

    Thanks,
    Ammu

That mean under short term disability, you will get two third of your salary, up to max $1,000.

There may be an elimination period.

What does it mean by "elimination period"?

Secondly, what does it mean by "less less any benefit received from state-sponsored short-term disability programs.”

Does it mean 2/3% - State benefits (if any)?

          Thank You.

I live in South Carolina state. As per the information that I have gathered on the internet, I have the below data:

Five states mandate short term disability coverage: CA, HI, NJ, NY and RI.

The 45 remaining states leave the option open for employees. People in those states can elect to enroll in voluntary short term disability through their employer. Employees pay the premium via payroll deduction, so there is no cost to the employer.

Am I correct in assuming that I will not receive any benefits from the state since I am in South Carolina?
