Good evening. One of my dearest friends has been faced with a terrible situation. She came to the US with her family from Peru over 20 years ago. Virginia has obtained her US citizenship, but her family, who resides in Miami, have not been able to obtain their citizenship. This past Tuesday Virginia's family was arrested and is being detained in the Broward Transitional Center. Her younger sister, who has been in the US since she was 7, her mother and father are going to be deported back to Peru. They are law abiding citizens who pay their taxes and have made a life here in the US. Virginia's sister was about to take the Florida State exam to become a certified medical assistant, and her dreams are about to end. The government used tear gas to enter their home, and walked in with dogs and guns drawn. They are not criminals, they are a caring, tax paying, law abiding family who made the US their home over 20 years ago. When Virginia’s family is sent back to Peru, a country they left over 20 years ago, their lives will be in danger. I'm not sure if there is anything you can do for Virginia's family, but certainly we cannot sit back and allow her family to essentially be given a death sentence. On behalf of Virginia and her family we plead for any help or guidance you can give. Thank you for your time and consideration.
