Social Security Cards

Is it permissible for an employer to demand a copy of a social security card? I understand the right to verify and witness the card, but is it now required for employers to demand a copy of the card before they can enter person into payroll?

You should provide the copies of the documents listed in I-9 form. If you presented social security card and driver's license, they can keep copy of them.
