need help!expired green card just got discharged from parole..

hi i need your help,
my boyfriend's green card expired WHILE he was in prison.
on top of that, his social security card either got stolen or is lost.
he's lived here in america since he was three, his family didn't have the money to pay for his citizenship. his green card expired while he was in prison and he just got discharged a month ago. the prison system doesn't list him as officially discharged, so they gave him an official card stating he is discharged. also he doesn't know where his birth certificate is, and his driver's license is suspended..THAT IS THE SITUATION!
so how much does it cost to renew the green card, and would it be recommended to wait for a few months for his name to be out of the system.
what does he need to do?how much money?what is recommended?

Yes its better you get name cleared and enough proof of that in the system first!
Prepare and complete the Application to Replace or Renew your Green Card (Form I-90) once its done. It costs $365. Add $85 biometric fee for a total of $450.

Birth certificate or any kind of proof is required.
