I have an I130 filed for my husband, who is a Mexican citizen. We had a lawyer in Mt Pleasant, TX and he has disappeared. His phone has been disconnected and his email account is deactivated. I need help knowing what we are supposed to do with my husbands case now and I don't know where to turn. Is there anything you can tell me? He is going to loose his drivers license on March 2 and we don't know if there is anything we can do. His application was approved to adjust his status in 2003 but we have been told we cant do it right now because he would be barred from the US for 10 years if we try now. Is there any help you can provide me with?

Well, I don`t know about every State. For that Lawyer, you can make a claim at the ARDC( Atorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission) of the supreme court in your state if it exists. They decipline lawyers who behave inappropriately and you can recover monies paid to this lawyer if the commission review your complain and your qualify for payment by the program. It is called client protection Program. It might take a while but you can recover your money. a friend of mind recovered $7.000.00 from the program due to misconduct from an atorney and he had been suspended for 5 years from practising law in the state of Illinois.
