My husband's visa expired last may, 2 days after we married. It's been about a year now since I suppose. We have enough money now to apply for his green card. He wants to use a lawyer since they are much informed than we are, but I feel confident enough that we could do it on our own because of how much it costs. He currently doesn't work being illegal and without a s.s.c, but I work. I have all the proper forms needed, and I've done a decent amount of reading and researching that remains to continue. He came here legally, but I've read that if he overstays then it would be wise to hire an attorney or lawyer, which is logical.
Some people have suggested that hiring a lawyer is too expensive, and that you only need to educate yourself on the subject and carefully take the time to understand everything.
Others have said that it's better to hire a lawyer in case anything happened, since his visa is expired, and it's been a year now since.
So, any suggestions? Thank you
