I have a son living in the States. He's 4 years old and pretty much my only family based in the USA. He lives with his mother obviously and his mother and I were never married.
I have found someone willing to sponsor me (But not in the same State my son resides in and I'm not sure if that's a problem or not), the problem is that it's not clear to me whether I'm eligible for a Immediate Relative Immigrant Visa or Family Preference Immigrant Visa or neither of those.
I didn't start any process yet and I'm already thoroughly confused.
Which steps do I need to take, is this even the right Visa I'm looking at or am I totally looking in the wrong direction?
