Query related to applying SSN from India

Hi,

I've one query related to SSN. My query is that is it possible to apply SSN from India? So that when I reach USA I don't have to wait for 1 month to apply and obtain my SSN. Would it be possible if I apply for SSN from India some 15 days prior to reaching USA?

I would be highly grateful to have your response on this.
