Hi,
my wife and I are living in the US since 2009, green card holder, working and paying Social Security and Medicare Taxes. That makes now around 4 years = 16 credits for SS.
Due to family reasons, we might have to return next year to our country of origin (..and rendering our green card).
Our question: Can we still continue to contribute to Social Security, on a voluntary basis, in order to complete the 40 credits / 10 years necessary?
..by making payments to SS from outside US?
I understand by obtaining 40 credits we may be eligible for some kind of benefits from the SS, as receiving retirement benefits is not determined by US immigration laws.
Thanks!
PS. to the Administrator of immihelp: may be you create a section for "Leaving the US"?
