Hi all,
I am the lucky winner of a DV / GreenCard (lottery). So recently I crossed the border and my migrant visa got stamped, and meanwhile I have received a *new* SSN.
HOWEVER I already had an old SSN, because I have lived as an international student in the USA and more recently I worked for 1 year in the USA on a H1B visa. (Note that they did not give me a new SSN when I re-entered the USA many years later on the H1B... so why would I get a new one now that I have a greencard?)
What does this mean? Does the new one replace my old one? I have the odd feeling that the social security guys made a mistake... seems like it?
USCIS must have known about my old SSN since I had to fill it out on the paperwork required for processing the GreenCard.
I am a bit confused. Hopefully I can keep my old SSN since I have build up a nice creditscore on it, and I would hate to have to start over again...
What to do here? Any help?
