Last Year Income tax filing

Hi,

I came to US on Oct 2012 with H1B Visa and i did not have SSN Until Jan 2013.
So, by the time i got my SSN, already 2 pay checks have been generated and i was under impression that i will not be eligible for the tax returns since my pay check got generated with out SSN.

But, when i am talking to some of my friends they were telling me that i will be eligible to for the tax returns this year.

Can any one please advise me on this?

You can file an income tax return for 2012 if you have an SSN now. It doesn't matter if you did not have an SSN in 2012.
