How to apply ITIN from India
Hello,
I was in US on H1B visa from Jan, 2013 to Aug, 2013. My wife and daughter who were on H4 visa stayed with me for entire period.
Now to file US tax return I want to apply ITIN for my wife and daughter.
Right now I am back to India and not sure when will I get chance gain to go back to US.
Can you please suggest me what will be the correct way to apply ITIN:
1) Send passport of my wife and daughter thro’ courier or with someone going from India to US?
2) Instead of sending original passport, send certified copy of passport and Visa page to US.
In this case who can issue me certified copy of passport valid for applying ITIN.
a) MEA – Ministry of External Affairs India
b) US Embassy in India?
Please help, I need ITIN at any cost, otherwise I have to pay back IRS huge amount of money.
