Hi,
Did anyone file ITIN for parents with 2013 tax returns?
If so, can you please tell how did you do?
I had applied ITIN for my in-laws(B1/B2 Visa) with 2012 tax returns and got it.
I did sent their notarized passport copies at that time.
Since the ITIN procedures has been changed from January 2013,
We have to sent their original passport or certified copy.
So i went to Indian Embassy at Washington DC. But they said they won't issue any kind of documents(even attestation or notary) for B1/B2 travelers.
Now i decide to send their original passport to IRS.
1. Did anyone sent the original passport and got ITIN and passport back? If so how long it took?
2. Did anyone got certified copy of passport? If so how did you get?
3. Can i submit the ITIN application W7 with the original passport and 2013 tax returns in the local IRS office at Washington DC, instead of sending to Austin, TX.
Please advise.
