  • Can F2 dependent wife submit m****cript to US publisher and earn royalty?

    Hi,

My wife is here on a dependent F2 visa. I was told that royalty income from publishing books is passive income and allowed in the US. Is this true? So can she submit her book to a US publisher?

    Thanks

Yes, royalty income from publishing books is considered passive income in the United States. Therefore, your wife can submit her book to a US publisher while on an F2 visa without violating visa regulations related to employment. This allows her to potentially earn income from book sales without actively working in the traditional sense. It's important to ensure she complies with US tax requirements for reporting and paying taxes on any income earned.

An F2 dependent visa holder in the United States is allowed to engage in certain activities, such as writing and submitting m****cripts to publishers. However, earning royalties from such work can be subject to specific legal considerations name combiner. While writing and submitting m****cripts is generally not considered unauthorized employment, receiving royalties might be viewed as taxable income and could potentially be considered employment under U.S. immigration law.
