Student to GC, tax implications
Hi,
I sponsored my husband for a GC last year and he is going from being an international student to a permanent resident this month. Our interview is later this month.
As an international student, he was exempt from state and federal taxes. How do we file taxes this year? Married-joint or married-individual. What will his tax implications be? Will he be paying tax for a his student earnings from last year?
