  • Paying Taxes

I recently started working with my EAD and SSN, I received my first paycheck and I had Social security dedections but no taxes.
    1. Do I need to pay taxes although I am in the middle of AOS to permanent resident?
    2. Is this just a case of earning so much before being taxed?

I filed my W4 form when I begun work.

    Your help please.

    1. Yes, you have to pay taxes.
    2. Did you put a lot of deductions in your W-4? Check that out. Otherwise, the employer should have deducted taxes already.

Even if the employer's payroll system did not have your deductions properly accounted for on the first paycheck, they will either take it later or you will pay at the end of the year. No issues.

It is important to get appropriate taxes deducted in your paycheck. Otherwise, you may potentially run into tax penalty for not making timely tax payments.

Don't forget your state taxes if applicable.
