Change ITIN to SSN with IRS

My Husband has worked in US with an ITIN. He now is a permanent resident and has a Social Security Number. How do we notify the IRS about the change? The agent at SSA told us he needed to bring a corrected W2 for his previous years taxes to get the money he has already paid into the system credited to his SSN and write to the IRS to recind the ITIN. There has got to be an IRS form for this, but it's difficult to find on the .gov site.

How could one work with an ITIN?

No notification is required. File your next tax return with SSN and send a copy of your ITIN with handwritten letter. In any case he cannot have worked unless he got an SSN.
