  • SS Pension together with sopuse

    Hi,

I came usa in 2006 in L-1 visa and earned more than $50k in 8 months then i was in India in 2007 but came back to USA on H1-B in Jan 2008. since then me and my wife both working in usa. we both are getting social security estimation mail from SS every year. I have 16 points including the absence year 2007. and my wife has 12 points. If we plan to go back to india in 2014then non of us will be completing 10 years to get 40 points SS credit.
Is there any way we can tell to US govt to include both of our income and points and give us atleast one pension at our old stage while we will be india?

Your answer in this regards will help many IT proffesional who come here and pay enough SS tax in less than 10 years.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I do not know of any way to combine two people's social security accounts to get credit to one person.

Person needs at least 40 quarters of credit or contribution to Social security to become eligible for SS payment when qualifying age is reached.

Each of the spouses will get separate checks from SS based on your contributions. These can be credited to single joint bank account but will be received as two separate transactions.
