Itemized or Standard Deduction?

Hello, I was on F1 OPT until 30th Sept 2010, and on H1 after that. I understand that I am a non-resident alien for tax purposes. Can I claim the standard deduction under the USA-India Tax Treaty? Or do I have to claim only itemized deductions?

From my understanding of your situation, you may take advantage of Art. 21-2 of the U.S. India Tax Treaty and claim the standard.
