L1 to E3D

Hi

I have been wanting to move jobs. Since, I am on a L1 visa there is not much flexibility. My wife is on E3 visa and I am planning to go under her and work on E3D. Is there a way to go on a E3D visa from L1 and get work authorization without having to quit my current job?

Hi aabhushan,
I am not sure whether you can transfer your visa from L1 to E3D with out going for a interview and stamping. It is best if you contact a lawyer.

you need to have EAD to work on E3d visa, even if you change the visa you need to apply for a EAD which takes 2-3 months. I assume you have a ITIN or SSN. If you don't , you can apply for one when get your EAD.

If you have your EAD , you are fee to work for any employer.
