Hello,
My parents brought me to California from Ireland in 2004 when I was 8 years old. They came here on an E2 Visa and I came as a dependent.
I turn 21 this December and I'm freaking out. I've lived in California for the majority of my life and I consider it home.
To my knowledge, when I'm 21, my birthday present from the government is that I get to pack my bags and move back to Ireland. (Is this correct?)
I've graduated high-school and I'm currently in college pursuing a degree in Software Engineering.
Is there a way for me to obtain a green card/citizenship due to living in California, legally, for the majority of my life?
I do not consider Ireland my home, I was raised in the United States, educated in the United States, and I never feel comfortable back "home" in Ireland. The only time I go back is either to have my Visa renewed or because of my I-94.
I'm terrified that I'm going to have to leave, what are my options?
I appreciate any and all information, thank you for your time.
