Questions regrding E2 visa and DV program

Hello everyone,

I would appreciate if someone could help me with the following questions regarding an E2 visa and DV program

1. Does applying for the DV (Diversity Visa) program will damage my chances for an E-2 visa? I’m asking because I know that an E-2 status requires non-immigrant intent and Diversity Visa petition carries immigrant intent.
2. Once I obtain the E-2 visa, am I allowed to make a significant change in plans, for example: starting a law firm (since I’m a lawyer) and then opening up a cafe instead?

Applying for the DV does not affect your E2 status. Just applying for the lottery does not have any implication on your status. If you won the lottery, then you have right to get the Green Card.

In my opinion, It shouldn't affect your visa approval since green card lottery is 100% randomly selected.
