previously TN denied, will E2 application be affected

Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen. I got denied for TN visa a couple of months ago, and I had to give up the temporary job offer and won't pursue TN anymore.

Now I'm thinking of buying a small business in California and apply for E-2. But worried that the previous TN rejection would have impact on E2 application. Is this concern reasonable?
